Banking customer beware: I have been a First Citizens Bank customer for over 15 years and I have just now come to the realization that this is the worst bank in NC, probably in the entire US. I was happy banking with them until recently, when they purposely would hold off debits from my account, just so they can benefit from awarding themselves with insufficient funds. This practice of theirs started worked against me about two years ago. Today, I got a letter that they will be closing a joint account I had with my wife (for over 15 years), with the reasoning of:
“Due to the unsatisfactory way you have managed your above referenced account, we will be closing it effective two weeks from now.” This is just plain unacceptable. This account was always in good standing, up until they got greedy and started pulling their fraudulent schemes on us.
I just cannot trust a financial institution with my money that practices this kind of behavior.

To whomever may be in the market to switch banks, please avoid First Citizens Bank, N.A. of North Carolina and South Carolina at all costs. You may just end up getting ripped off your self!
